Therapist & Clinical Director
Shelby Schrader, CMHC
In over 13.5 years of experience, I have come to understand that we must treat individuals as a whole — true well being is found in addressing issues in emotional, environmental, financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, social, and spiritual wellness. I work diligently to integrate physical, emotional, and spiritual approaches. I strive to help individuals address cognitive distortions and irrational thought patterns while finding new self-acceptance and self-affirmation. Life is best lived when we love ourselves, and are able to have a positive outlook on the future. I tend to employ aspects of CBT, DBT, CPT, and ACT most frequently in therapy, but ultimately the therapeutic relationship is more important than the modality we choose. The therapy space is a sacred one, and I never take for granted the vulnerability that others share in that space. I have worked with various populations and specialize in personality disorders and severe mental illness. I earned my Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Communication Studies from the University of Northern Colorado, and my Master’s of Science in Counseling Psychology from Evangel University. I have been in executive leadership for the majority of my career and I enjoy getting to lead and develop others to help them reach their highest potential!
In my free time, I just love to be active. I’m often found teaching group fitness, hiking the desert, walking my two favorite dogs, or deciding to do a new DIY project! I’m also committed to being a life-long learner and love to read the latest research on health and wellness as well as gain knowledge and skills for leadership development! I’m a devoted sports fan too, and am a huge fan of the Denver Nuggets, Denver Broncos, and Colorado Rockies!
