I’d never done a group program like this before. Going into it, I had reservations about how productive it would be for me. It was surprising to see the vulnerability of the group develop as we got to know each other. The perspectives shared by others, even group attendees, become really interesting and insightful for me. The way they challenged my established thought pattern or shared an angle I hadn’t considered was really helpful. Hearing others share of their priorities and struggles was also really enlightening and helped me think about different ways I could work through an issue or helped me realize how I should approach a certain conversation with my wife.
These programs are as beneficial as you make them. I’d urge you to be prepared to set aside the time to invest in yourself and know that this is a process that takes work and not simply a program that “fixes” anything through attendance alone.
